We believe in giving honour where honour is due and it is with a sad tone that we kick off this month's newsletter with news of the passing of former club captain and president, Ted Quin. Our sincerest condolences go out to the Quin family together with our thoughts and prayers in this time. We truly have lost a Bloemfontein Golf Club legend.

Bloemfontein Golf Club - General Rules and Guidelines

1. Pace of Play:

  • Maintain a good pace of play to ensure an enjoyable round for all.

  • Be ready to play when it's your turn.

  • Limit your pre-shot routine to keep play moving smoothly.

  • Players are required to play 9 holes in 2 Hrs and 25 Mins including Halfway House.

2. Tee Times:

  • Reserve tee times in advance.

  • Arrive at least 20 minutes before your tee time.

  • Respect the tee time schedule; do not start before your allotted time.

3. Dress Code:

  • Adhere to the club's dress code at all times.

  • Proper golf attire is required on the course.

4. Group Size:

  • Observe the maximum number of players per group (four).

  • Split larger groups to maintain pace of play.

5. Course Care:

  • Repair ball marks on greens and replace divots on fairways.

  • Use sand and seed mix provided for divot repair.

  • Avoid damage to bunkers; rake them after use.

6. Lost Balls:

  • Keep play moving by limiting the search for lost balls to 3 minutes.

  • Use a provisional ball if your ball might be lost.

7. Etiquette:

  • Show respect to fellow golfers.

  • Keep noise levels down on the course.

  • Allow faster groups to play through.

8. Cart Usage:

  • Follow cart rules and use cart paths when required.

  • Avoid wet or damaged areas on the course.

9. Course Conditions:

  • Observe any course-specific rules regarding preferred lies or temporary greens as announced on the day or on the Members WhatsApp Group.

10. Safety:

  • Prioritize safety at all times.

  • Shout "Fore!" if your ball may strike another player.

11. Handicaps:

  • Maintain an accurate handicap as per club guidelines.

  • Submit scorecards promptly after each round.

12. Alcohol and Tobacco:

  • Consume alcohol responsibly and in designated areas.

  • Adhere to no-smoking policies where applicable.

13. Guest Policy:

  • Ensure your guests adhere to club rules.

  • Guests may be subject to green fees and other charges.

14. Reporting Violations:

  • Report rule violations or course maintenance issues to the club staff.

These general rules and guidelines are in place to ensure a safe, enjoyable, and fair golfing experience for all members at Bloemfontein Golf Club. Please adhere to them and help maintain the club's excellent reputation for sportsmanship and course care.

2. Course Care:

Maintaining our golf course's pristine condition is a top priority at Bloemfontein Golf Club. Our dedicated team has been hard at work, ensuring that the fairways and greens are in optimal shape, therefore we are dusting the surfaces of the greens with a mixture of sand and fertilizer to prepare for growing season.

We are also implementing a comprehensive maintenance plan that includes regular mowing and shaping, irrigation adjustments and strategic bunker renovations. Rest assured, every effort is being made to provide you with a world-class golfing experience.


Hollowtining will take place in the last week in September 2023.

3. Junior Golf Program:

At Bloemfontein Golf Club, we are committed to nurturing the future of golf. Our Junior Golf Program continues to thrive, providing young golfers with coaching, mentorship, and opportunities to develop their skills.

We are delighted to see our juniors excelling in various competitions and encourage parents to enrol their children in this enriching program. Let's inspire the next generation of golf champions!
